This is a mixed option opportunity with short or long term options:

Seeking someone excited to run day to day operations of a small storefront selling local produce, locally crafted items, garden supplies, and natural goods in Gustavus, Alaska.  Part time April - September 2026, with year round potential. Familiarity with crops and growing techniques helpful.  Paid Part Time Position.

There is an option for some kind of flexible arrangement of assisting on our small farm, that will depend on the person, skills and interests.  Currently not a paid position.

For the long term, right fit, we are seeking someone interested in partnering with field crops, goats or sheep to complement our current farm activities.  There are some serious caveats.  This region is temperate rainforest.  It is cool, wet and cloudy most of the time, with periodic strong winds, rendering it a not wholly natural place for agriculture.  One can do it, but there are challenges.  Hoop houses can make a big difference. Except for one small section, the meadow has been lightly grazed, but never cultivated.  It is mostly grassy, with a variety of successional species knocking at the door but kept mostly at bay.  Soil is decent, silty with some clay. There are people here interested in supporting locally grown food, but for an operation to reach a meaningful scale would require shipping to the city of Juneau 60 miles away, which is expensive.

There is no housing on site.  We will work together to find a solution.  

On the upside, Gustavus is a beautiful, bountiful, wonderful place to live if you can deal with the weather.  There would be free time to explore Glacier Bay National Park.
